WATERS, a mosaic of life and nature
Acque focuses on the beauty and ecological role of Veneto’s rivers, lakes, and lagoons. This mosaic of life supports a remarkable number of plant and animal species, some particularly rare and precious, as well as beautiful and fascinating.
The images taken by AFNI members reveal three facets of the aquatic world. The macro-world, narrated through the natural environments dependent on water, from Alpine waterfalls to the nuanced vistas of lagoons. Then, the flight of aquatic birds over rivers, lakes, and marshes, finally gliding into the micro-worlds of plants and animals connected to water, an element ever-present in every image, sometimes as a prominent figure, sometimes as an essential co-protagonist for the life of flora and fauna.
We hope this visual journey will arouse emotion and interest, but also provoke reflection on the fragility of this natural heritage.
Chi è AFNI
L’Associazione Fotografi Naturalisti Italiani (AFNI) nasce nel 1989, collabora con amministrazioni pubbliche, centri di ricerca, università ed associazioni protezionistiche.
I suoi obiettivi sono riassumibili in:
– tutela e valorizzazione dell’ambiente naturale attraverso la fotografia, operando nel più assoluto e incondizionato rispetto;
– divulgare nuovi intendimenti in materia di fotografia naturalistica, tecnici, artistici e naturalistici, con particolare attenzione all’etica del fotografo.
Dal 2002 AFNI pubblica la rivista quadrimestrale di fotografia naturalistica Asferico, dal 2007 organizza il prestigioso concorso internazionale Asferico, e dal 2018 la collana di libri I grandi ecosistemi italiani.
La sezione Veneto di AFNI, è una delle sezioni storiche dell’associazione. AFNI Veneto ha pubblicato numerosi articoli su prestigiose riviste di natura e fotografia. I fotografi di AFNI Veneto hanno organizzato ed esposto in varie mostre fotografiche in sedi prestigiose di tutto il Veneto. Acque è il terzo volume prodotto da AFNI Veneto.
AFNI
The Association of Italian Nature Photographers (AFNI) was founded in 1989 and collaborates with public administrations, research centers, universities, and conservation organizations.
Its objectives can be summarized as:
– protecting and enhancing the natural environment through photography, operating with the utmost and unconditional respect;
– disseminating new approaches to nature photography—technical, artistic, and naturalistic—with a particular focus on photographers’ ethics.
Since 2002, AFNI has published the quarterly nature photography magazine Asferico, since 2007 it has organized the prestigious international Asferico competition, and since 2018 it has published the book series I grandi ecosistemi italiani.
The Veneto section of AFNI is one of the association’s historic chapters. AFNI Veneto has published numerous articles in prestigious nature and photography magazines. AFNI Veneto photographers have organized and exhibited in various photography exhibitions at prestigious venues throughout the Veneto region. Acque is the third volume produced by AFNI Veneto.
